What Familiar You Would Have and Why: Finding Your Magical Companion Based on Personality

 Familiars are often associated with witches as their sidekick. Many times, familiars are different animals or objects that a witch would have by their side, to keep them company or help them with their witchcraft a spells on the daily. After recent conversations in class, I thought it would be interesting to try and figure out how to find your best match as it can be a great reflection of who you are. Familiars were believed to be beings of the supernatural that were believed to their witch's servant as protectors, guides, and confidants.  Have you also wondered which familiar would choose you?

The first familiar we can look at is the owl. If this familiar chooses you, it might show that you are a person who seeks knowledge, prefers a quiet evening reading, or enjoys contemplating life’s mysteries.This is because owls are known for their wisdom and calm demeanor, often observing before they act. If you feel that your strengths are patient, thoughtfulness, and seeing through the noise, don't be surprised if the owl chooses you. 

Next, the loyal dog. This familiar is for those people who are always looking out for others around them. They are people in the group that thrive in nurturing environments, and always there for their friends and family. Dogs are loyal, protective, and embody a strong companionship with their witch. If you see yourself as loyal, caring, protective, and dependable, this might be the familiar for you.

Third, and the most well known is the mysterious cat. These familiars are know for their curiosity and their ability to walk the line between the supernatural world and the world in which we live. If a mysterious cat would be your perfect match, you are probably someone who likes to explore on your own, learn from having freedom, and have a little mystery to you. 

The toad, is a familiar that represents transformation, healing, and grounding energy. If this familiar chose you, it might showcase your a-stability and strength when their match is made. While others around you might be taken away in times of chaos, you maintain a steadfast attitude. This familiar loves to have a calm and strong witch to help with spells and daily activities.

Lastly, the crow. An animal that has a sharp eye for detail and is very intelligent, as they have the great ability to gather information, representing insight and perception. Crows have been associated with witchcraft, observation, and strategy and we often see them on the shoulders of well known witches in the media. If you are someone who is always watching, learning, and strategizing, the crow will gravitate towards you. 

Now ask yourself, do you find wisdom in quiet moments or do you love so love problems on the fly? Are you extremely loyal to those you love, or do you prefer to roam free and chase your own ideas?
The perfect familiar is out there waiting to choose you on your magical journey, and embracing your traits will get you closer to finding the perfect match. What familiar do you think you’d have?
